You Are Rich If You Are Healthy

Yesterday evening my wife fell from stairs. Actually, she jumped a step by mistake. Almost down, to the second last step, she thought it was the last one.

She landed with her feet almost straight and lost her balance.

Due to job, I live in another city, so wasn’t available for her help immediately.

Thankfully, one of the neighbor helped her out.

I reached back home only at around eight in the evening. Being in another city, it takes me nearly two hours to ride my bike back home.

The distance is around 85 KM, but due to traffic it takes nearly that time, whether I go by public transport, or by bike or car.

She was sitting in the living room as I reached back home with crepe bandage tied on her right feet.

Such is human body, each and every part of it is so important to us.

Rarely do we realize as to how important they are unless we are hit by an accident.

Seeing her sitting that way refreshed my memories of when I jumped from a high wall and hit my foot right in the ground.

It was one of the most terrible and stupid stunt I had performed in my life.

It was several years back, I don’t remember exactly as to how old I must have been, but roughly, I was in eight standard, so that puts me to fourteen years old.

The summer vacations had just started. A newly formed friend of my invited me to come and play cricket match. It was the best way to start a vacation. Unfortunately, my excitement and joy was short lived.

To get into the field were we could play cricket, we had to jump a high wall, something almost a storey high. My friend was a little hesitant, but he after few minutes he jumped and I followed him.

Unfortunately, my right foot hit the ground first and it absorbed the majority of the sudden force. The impact was so intense that I just was not able to stand up back again.

Some of my friends transported me back to my home, on a bicycle, with me writhing in pain all the while. I still remember I was in bed for almost two months, with crepe bandage tied around my right feet.

The next two months were as good as hell (as if I know what a hell actually is!!). The pain was so intense that it was difficult for me to even go to loo.

I had to grab a wall, or door or something to pull myself up from the bed while putting least amount of weight on my foot.

Before taking each step I had grab something ahead to pull myself ahead.

When I think of that incident I realize as to how important each and every bone and muscle of our body is.

Lesson Learned

Many people complain to God that he has given them nothing or something. This includes me fellows. I often complain to God as to why he has not given me a particular thing.

On the contrary, I should be thankful and grateful to God that he has given me an all working body. I am sure everyone should realize this thing.

An old saying, “health is wealth” is so very true.

No matter how wealthy we are, it is just of no good if we are suffering from a disease and under some kind of pain.

Regardless of how rich or poor we are, of how good a job or business we have, we should never complain God of why he has given the other person better things than you.

If you have an up and running body, just say, “Thank You God” now.
