We often hear and see such things in movies only.
But, it was real life and actual happening.
A busy highway with lots of fast moving traffic and an aircraft lands right in the middle of moving vehicles.
Safely, without hurting anyone.
Definitely, the pilot is skilled and well, quite like a hero in a James Bond movie.
A small plane made an emergency landing on Wednesday afternoon in Shirley area on Sunrise Highway.
According to a spokesman from Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), a Cessna C206 made a “precautionary landing” at around 1:00 PM on the westbound lane at Exit 57.
A friend of the pilot told a news chanel that the plane made the emergency landing due to some sort of engine trouble.
According to a police official on the scene, the Cessna 206 take off from Brookhaven Airport in Shirley and soon it was made to land between an overpass and a large road sign. There was only a few hundred feet of space to work with for the pilot.
Stuart Cameron, Suffolk County Police Chief, appreciated the efforts made by the pilot given the circumstances he was in.
Considering the pilot of Cessna C206 was having some mechanical issues which means he did not had full control of the airplane. Given all this the end result was pretty good.
There was a very short distance on the pavement to put the plane down. He steered the small plane away from the obstacles across the highway. Fortunately, no one got hurt in the incident.
The pilot was the only person on board the Cessna C206 and he walked out with no injuries.
The plane was flying to Eagles Nest Airport in West Creek, New Jersey and than back to Brookhaven Airport.
The pilot’s son told the news agency that his father has more than 20 years of flying experience and this helped him to land the airplane safely without hurting anyone.
This incident has taken place only 45 miles east of Long Island where another unusual incident has taken place involving a helicopter chartered by Vince McMahon’s only son landed in water.
